Salma founded Travel Guru Destinations to make expert, personal travel planning accessible to every traveler. Born and raised in Mexico and based in Austin, Texas, she holds a business degree and has spent 13 years exploring 50 countries across six continents.
Her name, Salma (سلمى), means “to be safe, unharmed” — a principle behind every itinerary: careful logistics, trusted partners, and recommendations tested firsthand. From solo travel across Asia to planning her own destination wedding in Mexico, she brings direct experience to each trip she designs.
Today the agency plans trips for solo travelers, couples, families and wedding groups, delivering every itinerary through the Trip Plans app with support in English and Spanish.
Every country on this list is one Salma has explored in person, and one we can plan for you with firsthand recommendations!
50 countries, 120+ cities, 27 US states, 6 continents
